Identify players in film
Match the players Skyball detected to your roster — the card gallery, the contact-sheet viewer, and per-match jersey fixes.
Skyball detects every player in the film automatically. For matches, jersey numbers do the naming — as long as your roster has them. For practices (and any touches the film couldn't name), you assign identities once, and every touch, stat, and playlist picks up the name — across every match, every leaderboard.
Getting there
Any of these lands you on Team → Players with the film selected:
- The banner on the review page: "N touches aren't mapped to a player name yet" → Map player names →
- The Unknown tile above the touch log (when its count is above zero, it is a link).
- Team → Players directly, then pick the film in the "Map a match or practice…" selector.
Assigning, step by step
- Each detected player is a card: a face crop, the touch count, and an appearances link. Cards are ordered busiest-first.
- Not sure who someone is? Click the photo — a full-screen viewer opens with the whole contact sheet and a scrolling strip of every crop of that player. Close with Esc.
- On the card, press "Assign player…" and pick from your roster (type a number or name to filter) — or simply drag a player from the roster sidebar onto the card.
- The progress line ("4 of 9 detected players assigned") and the sidebar bar track you; everything saves as you go.
- When you're done: "All detected players assigned. See the film with names on it" → Open film →.
Assigning the same roster player to two cards is allowed on purpose — the detector sometimes splits one person into two.
Match film (jerseys)
For indoor matches there is nothing to assign — the same page shows the player photo gallery by team, with a "Jersey read" chip where the number came off the shirt. Two fixes live on the review page instead:
- Wrong number read? Filter the touch log to that jersey and a bar offers "12 touches read as A55. Should be…" → Reassign all.
- A player wore a different number this match? The quiet link under the comments card — "Did a player wear a different number this match?" — opens Jersey fixes for this match: pick the number worn and who wore it. It applies to that match only, and their stats still count toward the right player everywhere.
