Build your roster

The roster is how film becomes names: Skyball reads jersey numbers off the film and joins them to the players you list here. Jersey number + name is all Skyball needs — positions and emails can come later. The roster holds up to 30 players.

Add players one at a time

On Team → Roster: type the #, the Name, optionally pick a Position, and press Add player (or just hit Enter). Rows save themselves; hover a row for the remove ✕.

Import a whole roster

Click "Import from a roster link or PDF":

• A link — your school's athletics site roster page, or your team's page on AES (results.advancedeventsystems.com). Skyball reads numbers, names, positions — and often the team color and logo too.
• A PDF — a SportWrench tournament roster pack works well: Skyball lists every team in the pack, you pick yours, then tick the players to add. Only jersey, position, and name are kept; member numbers, birthdates, and phone numbers are dropped, and the PDF itself is never stored.
• Sites that need a login (TeamSnap, SportsEngine) and scanned pages don't work — for those, use "Paste a list" at the bottom: one player per line, like 7, Billy Ito, mom@x.com (emails join as family; write player:billy@x.com for the player's own account).

You always get a preview with checkboxes before anything is added.

The five-minute window at upload time

If you upload a match while the roster has fewer than six numbers, a dialog appears while the file uploads: "Who's on [your team]?" with a tap-the-numbers grid and a countdown ("Sends in 4:32"). Adding the numbers right then often makes a meaningful difference in player identification — but you can always Send without a roster and fill it in later.

Linking people to players

Under each roster row, coaches can add the player's own email first, then family — one player email per jersey, unlimited family. Everyone added can sign in immediately. The full picture of who-can-do-what is in roles and members.
