Import film from YouTube
Paste a YouTube video or playlist link and Skyball fetches it for you — nothing uploads from your phone or laptop.
If your film is already on YouTube, you can skip the upload entirely. At the bottom of the upload page, paste a link into "Or paste a YouTube playlist or video link" and press Fetch videos. Available to owners and coaches.
The steps
- Skyball lists every video in the link with a thumbnail, title, and duration. Everything importable is ticked by default — untick what you don't want.
- Skyball reads what it can from the titles: "→ Cal · Nov 3, 2025" means it found the opponent and date.
- A match posted as several videos can be combined: tick the parts and press Combine selected into one match — Skyball joins them in order. Videos posted in sections are often grouped for you already (use Split to undo).
- Pick the type under Import as — Match or Practice — then press Import.
- Done. "The server downloads them, no need to keep this tab open." The matches appear on your Film page while they download and process.
Constraints
- Only YouTube links work (youtube.com and youtu.be) — there is no Hudl, VolleyMetrics, or generic URL import today.
- The video must be public or unlisted, and YouTube must serve it at 1080p or higher. A video YouTube only has at 720p is greyed out: upload the original recording instead.
- Videos shorter than 15 minutes import only as parts of a combined match.
- Up to 10 matches can be downloading or processing at once per program, up to 50 videos per import, and up to 12 videos joined into one match.
